Foundations can be an important potential source of funding. Foundations distribute over a trillion dollars a year in funding, and though much of that funding is not for research, some foundations have significant levels of funding for research projects.

Foundation Funding at BYU
As part of LDS Philanthropies, BYU has an experienced and active office devoted to foundation funding. In addition to tools for researching foundations, the office has contacts and extensive information about specific foundations. Contact them for help with foundation funding, including identifying relevant foundations, contacting funders and preparing foundation proposals.
