The Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology provides the research funding described below:
Mentored Reserach Grants (MRG)>
- Up to $25,000 over two years
- Support strong mentored learning environments for undergraduates
- May 4, 2018 (future dates likely in early December for 2018 and future years)
Ph.D. Fellowships
- $10k for first year
- Attract new, high quality Ph.D. students
- Proposal Deadline (to college): calendar year-end
Weidman Global Leadership Grants
- The Weidman Center for Global Leadership has funds to help faculty expand research into areas that “promote excellence in the teaching, learning, and practice of leadership and global agility”.
- Proposal Deadline: March 1, 2017
- Up to $15,000 (2 awards anticipated per calendar year)
- 2 page proposal
Seed Funding Awards
- Maximum award: $12,500 (about 8 awarded per calendar year)
- Proposal Deadlines: August 15, July 15, November 15
- Available to all CET faculty members
- Requires submission of at least one proposal for external funding
- Department chair must support the application
- 2-page proposal to college
Travel Support for Research Initiation
- Up to $1,500 per trip
- Support faculty in their external funding goals
- Send requests to Larry Howell, associate dean, at lhowell@byu.edu
- About 16 awarded per calendar year (subject to the availability of funds)
Undergraduate Student Travel Fellowships
- Half of travel costs up to a maximum of $500
- Research related presentations authored or co-authored by students
- Request to college via email that includes purpose and estimated cost of the trip
- One trip per year per student, up to two students/year per faculty member
Women Mentorships
- $1.5K each
- Help retain freshman women
- Faculty select from students nominated by college
