External research funding is important for providing opportunities and resources for excellent student experiences. Thus, the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering & Technology has dedicated travel funds to support faculty in their goals to secure external funding for scholarship.

The Ira A. Fulton College has established a travel fund to support faculty in their external funding goals. Travel requests should meet the following criteria:

1. Increase chances for funding (e.g. meeting with program officers) or improve proposal writing skills (e.g. attending proposal workshops)
2. Enable travel that would otherwise be difficult to fund (i.e. funds from current grants often can’t be used for travel to secure future grants)
Travel grants can be for the full expense of the trip up to $1,500. University travel policies apply.
The following are examples of eligible travel requests:
Visit program officers Attend agency funding conferences Participate in funding workshops or training sessions (such as NSF CAREER workshops) Visit industry partners interested in sponsoring research (research budget > $50K)
Other activities may be supported if there is strong evidence for it increasing chances for funding. An example that would ineligible is travel to meet with a program officer while attending a technical conference to present a paper (this doesn’t meet the enabling criteria).
