Faculty Collaboration Search
Search for Faculty Research Collaborators using AI Tools
AI chat assistants, such as Microsoft Copilot or Chat GPT, can assist you in searching for collaborative research partners at BYU. The fast and efficient search capabilities of these tools have reduced the need to search through personnel databases or individual department websites.
Example prompt:
- Construct a list of BYU research faculty whose work is likely to impact or have relevance to cancer.
Reiterate and refine your question after receiving initial search results. This can be done multiple times.
Example follow up:
- Briefly describe the research each person on the list does.
Once you’ve found desirable results, double check the information from the source that is linked by the AI. Often these links are provided at the end of the answer to your questions, but you can also ask for the source directly.
Example:
- Provide the source of the information regarding [name of collaborator].
Always do a cross-reference check with BYU’s website after the AI search to help prevent misinformation.
Microsoft Copilot and Chapt GPT are both “Conditionally Approved” BYU AI services. All BYU employees have access to a Microsoft 365 Copilot account, and BYU will also assist eligible faculty and staff in obtaining a ChatGPT Edu License.
