RDO Commitment to BYU Strategic Aims

2.A.1. Enhance the quality and quantity of experiential learning activities in and out of the classroom, including faculty-led, student-centered scholarship and student employment.

The Research Development Office enables BYU faculty to receive external funding to finance faculty-led student-centered projects.

Ensure Alignment with University Mission

1.A.1 Make mission-fit hiring decisions. In 2022, RDO has been on the hiring committee for four college-based grant professionals. The goals of the hiring committees were to make sure our RD personnel are committed to the BYU mission.

1.E.3 Promote a sense of belonging among all members of the campus community. RDO has trained with the Office of Belonging to ensure that our office is a place where we promote a sense of belonging in our student interactions. We have also received training on how faculty can create belonging statements in their grant proposals.

1.F Enhance BYU's position as a leader in topical areas that are "central to the Church's purposes" (as stated in the BYU mission), including languages and the institutions of family, religion, and constitutional government. RDO has facilitated interdisciplinary research teams and provided seed funding to research focused families and poverty alleviation.

3.B.3 Elevate BYU's unique message to key audiences. RDO promotes BYU research to federal agencies and large private funders by bringing them to campus and having them meet our faculty and students.
