Our mission is to grow our College’s research portfolio by helping faculty to find opportunities to secure external grants.
By enabling faculty to fully realize their available opportunities, we believe our assistance and support will provide CPMS faculty with the increased capabilities to their pre-award efforts. This support directly encourages the discovery of new knowledge, improves experiential education, and promotes collaboration to increase and sustain the quality of our program.
CPMS Research Development provides a full range of services and support for the BYU faculty and their sponsored research efforts.
- Identification of funding opportunities
- Funding searches, and advisement on funding strategy
- Training opportunities (e.g., seminars, workshops) to help researchers build grant-seeking skills
- Library of winning proposals and proposal resources
- Connection of faculty members with potential collaborators and mentors
- Targeted proposal support for external proposal submissions
- Kuali support
- And so much more!
Lael is delighted to work hand-in-hand with Michelle Prososki, Research Development Administrator. Lael Thompson worked at Arizona State University for twenty-five years and has an extensive background in research compliance. She decided it was time for a new adventure and moved to Utah to work at BYU in the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. She enjoys working and supporting the faculty in their research endeavors and loves to see their ideas come to life. When Lael is not working, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, being outdoors, and goofing around with her pets.
Lael is pleased to work with her research assistant Greta Acreman.
